Late Payment, Credit Card Charges

In July 06 the Office of Fair Trading ruled that the maximum charge which could be levied against an account in respect of a late payment or over limit fee was £12. Any amount above this figure could be claimed back plus interest. Excess charges up to 6 years ago can be reclaimed.
Similarly if Payment Protection Insurance was added to your card each month without your knowledge or if it was mis sold these charges can also be reclaimed plus interest.
Egg Finance were recently fined £720,000 for the mis-selling of Payment Protection Insurance on credit cards.
